WHY CHESS? WHY NOT CHESS? ACTION RESEARCH

I'm the GT Specialist at my school and I think this is a great opportunity for you to find out how important having a Chess Club is to the enrichment of the middle school students and their emotional intelligence. The Chess Club at my school has been great for the kids. I was looking at your original question. Are you going to be looking at scores of tests or grades to evaluate the academic performance of these students?
ReplyDeleteI think this is a neat idea. Students love to play games. So it might prove to be a greater motivator. I also think this will be a great project for parent involvement. My action research project involves getting more parent involvement at our school, and this just gave me an idea of having more opportunities where different parents can and will feel comfortable involving themselves with the school.
ReplyDeletePlease follow me at my blog also!

Thanks Sheryl and Llanary for the comments. I've made some revisions.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea!! How are you measuring student academic achievement? State testing? I am interested to see your results!! I will be definitely be checking back to see how your research is coming. Please follow and comment on my action research =) Thanks!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI will most likely measure academic achievement through informal teacher questionnaires.
ReplyDeleteEDLD 5366 Week 1 Reflection
ReplyDeleteSome of the ancient works are somewhat difficult to understand. This one in particular is quite interesting as I think it relates to the genealogy of Jesus. I’m not fond of the designs of what appears to be either a turkey or some sort of bird. I realize that art/design has to be seen in various forms and may never completely be understood. It’s even more confusing for me due to my pursuing a degree of masters in administration without technology. I’ve never heard of the principles of design C.R.A.P., but I respect and comprehend that each web page or design from a book is now more noticeable to me with the principles in mind. With this genealogy design, the contrast of colors is bold and not overwhelming. Repetition of font is seen throughout, alignment is consistent and the proximity of names from the genealogy is effective. The spacing is consistent also. The manuscripts and motif designs exhibits age and discolorations from hundreds of years ago.
